Silent Song, which intertwines stylized animal and figurative imagery with an American Sign Language (ASL) poem, was first exhibited as part of the Museum of Outdoor Art's show Once Upon a Time . . . Tales Written in Stone. Viewed from a distance, the stylization of the sculpture makes a strong and powerful statement. As the viewer steps closer, they can see the following ASL poem:
On silent wings
I fly to where
My heart can sing
To the starry night
